"You look like you work at a Hasidic meth lab".... Ok, maybe you have to be from the east or west coast to fully appreciate that line, but dee-yam, that was funny. Steve Martin and Tina Fey were quite funny too. If I can find the clip online I will put it up here later on.
Another Oscar note--it might be hard for you young pups to know that this:
Used to be this:
Mickey Rourke was quite the hunk...sigh...Honestly, can you think of a better visual to illustrate "Just say No"???
All in all this year's Academy Award ceremony was pretty good. There was a minimum of "cringe" moments that forced me to run for my remote control, which is a big improvement over past years. The only "make it stop, make it stop" segment was the tribute to Jerry Lewis...yes, he has raised a planet load of money for a good cause, but heaven help me, I cannot stand the man. Unspeakable torture for the diva would be wall to wall reruns of Dancing with the Stars starring the Dread Pirate Heather Mills, The Denise Richards reality show and anything with Jerry Lewis in it. If I am ever captured by the enemy hot coals can be applied to the bottom of my feet and bamboo sticks shoved upside my fingernails and I would hold firm...but show the opening credits to any Jerry Lewis movie and I will spill my guts. The minute Jerry's name was invoked last night I made a mad dash for the remote control, frantically punched at the mute button, put my fingers in my ears, turned my back to the TV and began singing every verse of "Don't eat the yellow snow" at the top of my lungs.
My overall take on the show: I could have eaten Hugh Jackman with a spoon, I think I have a new crush. He did a wonderful job proving that charm and good looks can go a long way to making what is usually a snore-fest pretty watchable.
Jennifer Aniston looked like she had taken a dip...or two...or three... of something-something before the show. She looked pretty shredded around the edges. The Diva was really hoping that she would suddenly stop in the middle of her praddle on stage, look in to the audience, and let out a blood curdling scream: "You skinny beeyotch, you stole my husband!" Doing a superman leap, with arms outstretched she would hurl herself off the stage and land on top of Angelina. The world would get to watch Live! From Hollywood! the two lollipop head scarecrows rolling around the ground while Brad stands back watching the action with a little smirk on his face. Granted I am firmly in "Camp Jolie" because I think Jennifer is a whiny Winnie who loves to play the "Woe is me" card, but still....that would have been GREAT TV!
Nothing major today, just some bits and pieces from the weekend and some nicely warmed up leftovers from this past week.
Politics
Mike Huckabee proves that not only is he well aware of much he is ticking off the Republican power brokers, he is having a damn good time doing it. The Diva is not a Huckabee supporter, but he is an endearing little PIA... and anyone who enjoys thumbing their noses at the powers-that-be is A-OK in my book:
Hillary and Obama are such a cute couple aren't they? Kiss and make one day:
and a lover's spat the next:
Hillary, Barack and Bill...whatta' ménage à trois... Ole Dumbledore's escapade (Sir Michael Gambon/Lady Anne and Philippa Hart ) has nothing on this little trio--I wonder who gets to be the middle?
WTF? Michael Beasley scores 44 points last night, but we still managed to lose to Baylor---AND the women lost last night too. Crap on a stick--definitely not a good night for the Purple Nation... and the Aging Disco Diva does not want to talk about it...
Gossip
The rehab clinics and psych wards all across America are empty today because tonight is the Oscar's and everyone in Hollywood and/or in the Biz will be making an appearance. The Aging Disco Diva is extremely pissed off at the USPS because again this year they have lost her invitation to the show and to the after-parties. I have my outfit and shoes ready to go too
I am using these fashion icons as my guide:
Sigh, I guess I will just have to get dressed up and watch the show at home. It will put me in a great frame of mind though to report on who wore what... and to wonder WTF they thinking when they put it on.
In other gossip news
These photos taken this weekend seem to verify that Angelina is indeed pregnant...or ate a pea. Hard to tell---when Lollipop Heads eat more than a tic-tac it causes a "bump" so she is either with child or ate a real meal. You decide:
The Aging Disco Diva is going to have to make this a brief entry. My coffee machine went belly up today right after breakfast and I was involved with conference calls and phone meetings until after 5pm so I was unable to get my java fix. I love having a job that lets me work in my pajamas (yes, those jobs do exist for a lucky few) but the downside is that I have no one around to run and get me a latte. After chewing a few handfuls of espresso grinds to tide me over I headed to the store to get a replacement. My first pot full was injected directly into a vein and the fog is slowly lifting but I am still a bit woozy.
The book club will meet again next Tuesday (I think Tuesdays and Thursdays will work fine for our chit chats)
Today’s gossip
Today was a slow gossip day. There were the usual “does she have a bump?” rumors centering on Angelina Jolie. The buzz is that she is expecting twins. I might be in the minority in the gossip world, but I really like Angelina. She was a wild child but really settled down and is using her celebrity for good causes….as opposed to say Britwreck, who thinks that flashing her cootchie and letting her boobs hang down to her belly button is a worthy cause.
I used to have a thing for Mel Gibson…I really lusted after the guy, but I wish he had learned to STFU about ten years ago (and had stopped smoking—Mel, baby—those cancer sticks are not helping you to age gracefully) I guess, according to what I read today, that he and Heath Ledger used to be tight but that changed when Health accepted the role in “Brokeback Mountain” We know Mel is no friend of David, and evidently no friend of Dorothy either. Bigotry is such a turn off Mel.
Amy Winehouse has gone into rehab…. again. Amy is sorta' the British version of Britney…except she actually has talent and her husband is so skanky he makes Amy look good…. as opposed to Brit who is so skanky she makes K-Fed….well, you know….
They’re tryin to make me go to rehab I said no, no, no Yes I been black, but when I come back, You wont know, know, know
Sometimes it is hard to remember with all the bat sheeyat crazy stuff she has been doing that Amy has a hell of a voice:
Wildcat News
"Kansas State (13-4, 3-0 Big 12) returns home to the friendly confines of Bramlage Coliseum on Saturday afternoon, as the Wildcats play host to Iowa State (12-7, 2-2 Big 12) at 5 p.m. The contest will begin a stretch of four home games in a five-game span, including back-to-back contests against the Cyclones and No. 2 Kansas. A win would give K-State at least 10 home wins each of the last seven seasons.
A victory on Saturday would be a historic one for the KansasState program, as it would represent the 1,400th in school history. The Wildcats, who rank 47th all-time in victories in NCAA Division I with a 1,399-1,016 (.579) mark, would become the fifth Big 12 program to accomplish the feat, following Kansas, Texas, Oklahoma and Missouri.
Saturday’s contest will be televised regionally on Fox Sports Midwest (DirecTV 648, Dish Network 446) as well as nationally on the ESPN Full Court package with Ben Boyle (play-by-play) and StanWeber (analyst) calling the action. The department announced on Thursday that the three remaining games on FSN Midwest will now be available on ESPN Full Court, allowing more fans across the country to enjoy these games. It will be the eighth of 10 appearances on the network and one of a school-record 29 televised contests. The team is 16-1 over the past two seasons on FSN Midwest"
If you hate sport videos with sappy music (Or Right Said Fred's "Stand Up For the Champions) then you might like these K-State videos created by Catlab2000, I really enjoy watching them, but be warned, I love Eurotrash music and listen to it while exercising every day and these videos definitely feature that type of music.... Some of the visual references can only be fully enjoyed by the Wildcat faithful:
Well, that is about it. Here are some more funny videos to help you pass the time:

Have a great weekend, and of course....GO WILDCATS!!!
