Oh Oh Oh Oh, Oh Oh Oh Oh.

The oldest of the Aging Disco Diva's progeny is in Seventh Heaven today....the collective object of her preteen desire a couple of decades ago is reuniting.

Oh Oh Oh Oh, Oh Oh Oh Oh.
Oh Oh Oh Oh, Oh Oh Oh Oh.

They may be pushing 40, but the New Kids are returning to the block.

The boy band New Kids on the Block, which sold 70 million albums in the 1980s and early '90s, has reunited and plans to release a new album and go on tour. The reunion comes 20 years after the release of the group's multiplatinum album, "Hangin' Tough."

At the height of their popularity, New Kids sold out world tours, marketed millions of dollars in merchandise and spawned a Saturday morning cartoon.

The group disbanded in 1994. Wahlberg has acted on television and in movies, while Jordan Knight, McIntyre and Wood released solo albums. Jonathan Knight became a real estate developer.

"The fan response to this has been incredible," band member Donnie Wahlberg told the Boston Herald.

Wahlberg said he was persuaded to get back together with his former bandmates -- Joey McIntyre, brothers Jordan and Jonathan Knight and Danny Wood -- when they decided to record new music. Wahlberg said he wrote 80 percent of the new material with McIntyre and Jordan Knight.

"I had no interest going out on a nostalgia tour and singing the same material," said Wahlberg, 38. But he added: "We absolutely will do the old songs for sure."

Well, I am certainly glad that he changed his mind about doing the old songs... nothing would be uglier than a group of thirty-something soccer moms wearing their thread-bare NKOTB hypercolor shirts, "I heart Joey" leg warmers with the elastic all stretched out and nasty over their acid washed Jordache jeans, storming the stage and screaming "You wanna see Hanging Tough? Sing, damn it" while the rest of the audience is text messaging their husbands to put the kids to bed and make sure that Madison's soccer shirt and shorts have been washed and dried.

Oh Oh Oh Oh, Oh Oh Oh Oh.
Oh Oh Oh Oh, Oh Oh Oh Oh.

Oh Oh Oh Oh, Oh Oh Oh Oh.
Oh Oh Oh Oh, Oh Oh Oh Oh.

The Aging Disco Diva has no use for manufactured boy bands like NKOTB, Backstreet Boys, 'N Sync or Menudo ....but bring back a REAL band like this and I am in the front row, screaming and throwing my support panties (with the built in tummy tuck panel):

Here we come, walkin
Down the street.
We get the funniest looks from
Everyone we meet.
Hey, hey, we're the monkees
And people say we monkey around.
But we're too busy singing
To put anybody down.

  1. My room was wallpapered with photos of NKOTB. I had all their music, including the Christmas album. Recalling this makes me smile because the other day I asked what was the big deal with the Jonas Brothers that all the preteens are nutty about. We all have our teen craze!

  4. I absolutely hated these guys. They're like cockroaches--no matter how hard you try to get rid of 'em, they keep hanging around. And now they're talking reunion tour?? NOOOOOOOOOOOO!! I'll be circulating an anti-NKOTB petition immediately :)

  5. Hi Beeker! My oldest had NKOTB bedsheets, posters and stickers. It makes me smile because she is now in the same place I was when the Monkees made their reunion tour---a thirty something woman all excited about her favorite boy band from her preteen years, LOL. Thanks for stopping by again :)

  6. Hi Saph, yes like a reoccurring yeast infection they are back ;) Let's see how long (or how desperate they are for the money) they can keep their egos and personalities in check before disbanding once again. Judging by their press conference this week I give them two months...tops. Cheers! Thanks for stopping

  7. Hi Jillian...tapes? tapes? You must be a mere child then. The Aging Disco Diva has her favorite bands on VINYL (both 33, 45 and 78)...and on reel to reel....eight track tapes....cassette tape...cd....mp3...sigh...now I am friggin' depressed at how old I am. Time for some happy pills with caviar and Champagne. LOL, thanks for stopping by!

  8. Hi Mikey....I take it then that you will not appreciate the special Comprehensive boxed set (complete with commemorative t-shirt) of the NKOTB I was planning on sending you for your birthday? ;)
