I love it....."SpongeBob is my man, he is my homie!" Michael is such a fun kid to listen to.

It seems that Dick Vitale agrees with the Aging Disco Diva's assessment of Michael Beasley! Hey, Baby...finally

Fresh-faced Beasley quite a dandy for K-State

By Dick Vitale, special for USA TODAY

Could this be déjà vu?

Last year a Diaper Dandy named Kevin Durant dominated the player of the year awards, winning the Naismith, the John Wooden and Associated Press player of the year.

Well, we could be seeing another Diaper Dandy sweeping those trophies again in a season that has the deepest freshman class I've seen in my 29 years at ESPN.

My friends, Michael Beasley of Kansas Sate has been awesome, baby, with a capital A.

Right from the start, when he had 32 points and 24 rebounds in his debut, he sent a message that he could be the premier player in the land.

What really impresses me about Beasley is that he plays within the team concept. He set a school record Saturday against Oklahoma State with his 19th double-double.

Yes, his 23 points and 13 rebounds were the leading factors in K-State climbing to 7-1 in the Big 12 Conference.

He's unselfish and wants to do everything to get Kansas State to the Big Dance for the first time in a decade.

He also played a role in ending the 24-year home drought against the Kansas Jayhawks.

Bill Self's game plan of packing in worked to perfection in the first half, but then Beasley showed his versatility by knocking down three trifectas in leading the Wildcats to their biggest win in many a year. It was a special moment that will rank among the finest in Kansas State history.

Beasley is a legitimate threat to finish the season in the top five in scoring and rebounding. That, my friends, is being productive.

Next for K-State is Texas Tech, and the Red Raiders can be a nightmare to play in Lubbock. New Red Raiders leader Pat Knight has to get a great game plan to neutralize Beasley.

Right now, Beasley is my favorite to win player of the year.
